After spending the last several of my November vacations in Amsterdam, I'm thinking about going somewhere new (and warmer) this year. I've been looking into Acapulco. Would welcome any info about the escort scene there. I'll be travelling alone and would like to find some local company while there.

I've also been looking at a guesthouse "Las Palmas", anyone been there? Recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I spent last Thanksgiving in Acapulco at Las Brisas. Truly wonderful. Had an American escort join me for the last part of my trip. While he was perfect, it was not necessary. Lots of boys there - anything and everything you'd want & all reasonably priced. I searched the internet and found useful info on gay Acapulco & local escorts, but I don't really think that's necessary - cheaper to deal with it when you get there. There's a gay restaurant right on the gay beach - can't remember the name, but they flew the gay flag. Go alone (preferably) and have a few drinks. The "vendors" immediately approach you trying to sell jewelry, etc. You can play games OR just tell them you're not interested in jewelry but would love to find some BIG dicked boys . . . being subtle will only cost you time.

Also, there's lots of action at the local stripper bar, which is just off the main street. The strippers mostly want to do private shows, but other escorts also hang out there and they'll do all night for the price of the stripper's short private show. Because their economy sucks, money talks . . .

I was overly cautious about discretion. Didn't know that was possible, but they could care less. If nothing else, to them you're just another crazy, rich, fucking American, so who cares . . . they'll never see you again. My American escort blatanly picked up a (hot) waiter at a VERY straight restaurant / bar. I thought sure we were getting thrown out when the manager approached me, but he just thanked me profusely and offered to let the waiter off early. Okay, so we had run up a HUGE bar tab & bought drinks for way too many straight boys. At least the management had the good sense to know that queer dollars spend just as good as any others.

There's other info along these lines in the "Street Hustler" section - at least I think that's where I saw it. Another guy details an enjoyable experience he had in the Dominican Republic.

Good luck. Please let us know about your experience(s). Inquiring minds want to know. Also, any similarly useful info others might have on exotic vacation spots would be most appreciated.

I've stayed at Las Brisas several times. Acapulco is one of my favorite vacation spots, however I never had any experiences with Escorts there (sorry).

Sex was easy to find on the beach, in the bars (both straight & gay) and on the street.

I haven't been there in a little over a year and I hear things have changed.

Have a great trip and enjoy!

In my humble opinion, Acapulco is one of the most enjoyable places on earth for a vacation, particularly if you like young Mexican men. As mentioned in a previous message, there is a specific location on Condesa Beach that caters primarily to the gay crowd. Just head down to the palapas on the beach behind Beto's Restaurant (which is centrally located on the main drag, or Costera). The waiters will find you a comfortable palapa, from which you will have ample opportunity to survey the local talent.

If you see a young man who strikes your fancy, don't hesitate to say hello, and perhaps offer to buy him a Coke or a beer. Most of the muchachos speak some English, although Acapulco is primarily a Mexican resort and it definitely helps to be somewhat conversant in Spanish. It should probably also be noted that not all of the young men who frequent the beach are entirely pure of heart, so watch your valuables and use common sense should you decide to "deepen the relationship."

If this is your first trip to Acapulco, and you hope to "hook up" with a local, I recommend Las Palmas. Most, if not all, of the major tourist hotels will give you a hard time about bringing anyone back to your room. Las Palmas specifically permits this, although as I recall a small "guest fee" is discretely added to your bill. The owners of the hotel are an American gay couple, and are a lot of fun to chat with. The rooms at Las Palmas are small, but nicely decorated and clean. The size of the rooms is compensated by some very nice public areas, including a pool and a dining courtyard that have a great view of the bay.

A very informative and accurate book that I highly recommend to any gay tourist visiting Mexico--and interested in sex--is entitled "Gay Mexico" by Eduardo David. Reading this book in advance of your trip will repay its cost many times over.

Have fun!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-25-00 AT 11:04PM (EST)[p]I intended to make mention in my previous post about the potential problem of bringing someone back to your room in Acapulco. I had heard it could be an uncomfortable issue. Fortunately, I had no problem at Las Brisas, which is a Westin resort. They have a decent website if you're interested. In fact, I emailed them about my "friend" joining me later in my trip. Got it in writing that there would be no charge, but nothing ever came up. I rented one of their absolutely nellie pink & white Jeeps for the trips to and from town. Totally worth it. I felt like Sandra Dee. With or without an extra companion, we just buzzed in and out, which was nice.

I should say that I am normally MUCH more anally retentive than what my posts about Acapulco would lead you to believe, so I think that speaks highly of how comfortable I felt even though I had been there before. Most of the credit for my comfort level was a result of the resort. It was fucking fabulous, even for a hillbilly from Bumfuck.

Also, I researched "Las Palmas" and only heard good things . . .

Hey ROBPA---I've read your posts a couple times, and saw you are from rural PA, as I am. I was just wondering about where you are--I travel alone a lot also, just curious. Would love to have a travel partner once in awhile, who likes to go and do some of the same things I do.
