I'm sorry to report that I did not have a fabulous time at the Black Party. I saw some friends and had an ok time, but, JESUS, some of those leather queens take themselves so goddam seriously...they're like actors who believe their own P.R. Damn, girls, it doesn't hurt to smile...or laugh, God forbid!

 

As far as who was wearing what, if it was black, leather, vinyl, studded, low heeled, sheer, hairy, buff or pierced, it was there. You could tell the ones who wore their leather well as opposed to those who were worn by the leather! I stopped in the Tom of Finland shop on Saturday morning just to see if there was anything more tacky I could wear with my harness; it was a sea of dark roots and Aramis.

 

I'm sure if I had met Jake or the aformentioned Sicilian Stallion, I would have had a better time; in fact, I would probably STILL be having a good time. Bitch as I might, it wasn't terrible and I'm glad I went with some friends. I would have had a better time if it didn't cost so much but...ah, the cost of pleasure. Next time I hope they plan it as more of a celebration rather than a casting call for a Chi Chi LaRue epic. (No offense grrrl)

Well Regina, since I haven't been to a circuit party in about five years, I was curious to hear your review of this past Saturday night. A friend told me that Roseland was filled with the usual variety of beautiful hunks, but that most of them were unapproachable, and in fact the attitude level was worse than ever!

 

I am surprised that you didn't see any escorts and/or porn stars--the place was supposedly full of them! Get your eyes checked Neely, or maybe you should cut down on the dolls and booze!

Sorry I didn't answer your question; yes, the hall was loaded with porn stars, porn star wanna-bes and, of course, escorts up the wazoo. And yes indeed, attitude (with a capital A) was rampant. The interesting thing is, the crowd--your average Joe Blow in attendance--totally dominated any "porn personality" in the hall. Was it the attitude, or the outfits, or the botox injections to make their complexions as shallow as their personalities? Who knows.

 

And just to clarify, Helen, I don't do tina or any of that shit; Broadway don't go for booze and dope...

 

In fact, it appeared that the porn stars and escorts were having the most fun. Maybe they felt they had nothing to prove. Anyway, next time I go to a party like that, I wanna go hand out with the sex pigs; at least they know how to laugh! Maybe if I had gone to the post party orgy I would have had a better time, but I hate to search for clothes after one of those things. I'd rather take my money and go! :-)

My experience was pretty much like Regina's. It's the same attitude that can be seen most any Saturday night at g. As far as porn stars go, the horror is that there probably were many more present than I realized but they, alas, without the airbrushing and the makeup diva, look pretty much like the rest of us.

I had a good time, but I go to dance with friends and ignore all the bullshit and attitude. I don't drink or do drugs, but we danced all night and then mid-Sunday afternoon we spent the rest of the day out at Jones Beach which was a blast.
