christmas gifts for clients

I was wondering do any of you ever buy christmas gifts for you're regular or favorite clients? I have 2 massage clients that spend around 6000.00 a year on massages between the 2 of them and every year i buy them a nice christmas gift. i feel that you cant always just take and its important to give something back at times..

Well, good for you, Joseph. May I suggest that 10% would be a good rule of thumb. In that event, you would buy each client a $600 gift for the holidays.

 

For me, I always tip my favorite escort at least a thousand dollars...but I have to use my left hand to do it!

actually it would be 300.00 each. each of the 2 guys i mentioned spends around 3000.00 each a year. 10% would be 300.00

And that should be tax deductable, as a business expense. I'd say your clients are quite lucky.

 

I spend about the same on the masseur I go to and last year he gave me a box of Xmas cookies (not even home baked) from Costco.

I realize without devoted clients id have no business. I'm thinking first of the year i might stock a full bar so the clients can have a nice cocktail to go with their massage..

I spend a little less than that on my local masseur - he gives me a free session and takes me to dinner for my birthday. :)

I do consider myself generous at heart: I assure you that, during the holidays, I always give much more than I ever receive.

 

My "regulars" shower me with lots of love and affection, I certainly consider myself most fortunate to have them in my life.

You should not feel any obligation. BUT, of course, it is good business to do something nice for a client once in awhile. It makes the client feel that you like him, and will insure that he will remain a good customer.

I have bought gifts for clients who are regulars, but nowhere near the $300-$600 range. I think they were touched by the gesture far more than how much I paid. The monetary value of the gift meant little to them (when they have tons of money, why would it)? They've often said they felt "bad" or "guilty" because they hadn't bought me anything. Their repeat business was the gift to me, I thought. Especially when they worship me like a god when they are with me.

Smart business man - it is the accepted thing to do in business if the patronage of your good clients is appreciated. I see no reason why this would not apply the the business of escorting as well.

One time I gave a Christmas gift to a client and it got noticed by his daughter and got him in trouble. I know this from when he explained why he couldn't see me any more. So, while I love the idea, I am a bit shy of it anymore. Just be careful to whom and how you give anytning, eh?

I think that would depend on what the gift is and hopefully it wouldn't contain an inscription or be accompanied by a mushy card.

 

Just curious - if it is not betraying a confidence, what was the gift and how did it him in trouble? I would think this information could be shared if no names are mentioned.

Zipper - I had told the client that I had something for him in the car. Then got spacy and drove off. I had only gone a few blocks when I remembered and doubled back. It was only a Christmas tree decoration which he could have easily bought for himself. However, I was thinking that since he could have that then it would fade into his collection for the average observer. However, when I was there, which I obviously wouldn't have been if I hadn't doubled back, his daughter dropped by. I do believe that he hadn't been expecting her, but ... There was a very wide age range. ... And this was nearly two decades ago. Part of my confidentiality for my clients is habitual, and, in their case, CRS, so don't worry. Even if I were inclined to tell recognizable stories out of line, the only detail I remember that might be incriminating would be the name of his street. And since I don't know the name of his first pet, that wouldn't even make a drag name. LOL

A year ago--I hired an escort for my birthday weekend--this was I believe the 2nd or 3rd time we were together. We were staying at a hotel that had a breakfast buffet. He is more of an early riser--while I am more of a late night guy. On my birthday morning he had gotten up early to go eat. Well he came back and woke me up with a tray from the breakfast buffet--so I had breakfast in bed. He also gave me one of his DVD's (he's a porn star). While these were not really expensive things, it was very thoughtful of him.
