Today I had the experience of having a family member of a client of mine thank me for the excellent job I was doing. In my view, I was merely doing my job and both he and I knew the outcome of my efforts would be less than what either of us would have hoped. Somehow being thanked for an unexceptional effort with a less than optimal result seemed worse than being unthanked for a superior effort.

So guys, ever feel you were not at the peak of your game and still get thanked profusely? What about the acrobatic performance which hardly gets a nod at the end? Which would you prefer having someone think that your average is superior or the self knowledge that you really gave your best even it went unrecognized?

I'm not an escort, so I can't comment on your specific situation. I am a professional performer in the arts, though, and a similar phenomenon can occur. Effusive expressions of praise when the performance was, in my opinion, not so great, feels awful.

The famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin said in his memoir that he once felt horribly guilty after a badly-played but enthusiastically received concert in Italy. His large fee was given to him in an enormous stack of bills, which to him had the effect of rubbing salt in his emotional wound.

He finally comforted himself with the thought that when concerts went well, he enjoyed them so much that he'd have been happy to play for free. Going through the experience of playing badly and feeling awful--well, who'd want to put himself through that without being paid?

I don't know if that helps or not!

I too play music, and have had the same thing happen. I have had times where I have really butchered a song, and people would come up to me with very kind words.

Performing is a two way street, sometimes we do not feel like we have done our best, but, we still made an effort, and we still touched someone.

Its like a famous pianist once said.... "If I miss a day of practice, I notice it, if I miss a week my wife notices it. If I miss a month my critics notice it." I may have it right or may have it wrong, but that's the basic message.

So to me, you sound like a person who always trys to do his best for his client.....and even when you have not given your best "performance" it is still so good that the other person can't tell.

I believe the pianist was Paderewski, and it was 1 day - he notices,

2 days - his friends notice & 3 days - the public notice

Family member of a client?

Just checking:

Family member of a client of an escort? Or are you a non-escort who wanted to know if escorts have had similar experiences. I'm assuming the latter. But it would be interesting to know if any escorts have had occasion to have interaction with an actual family member of a client who was open about hiring an escort.

No I am not an escort and while I guess family might get involved, say a particularly understanding wife or husband or a rather overinvolved mother, I thought mentioning the family aspect of it was clear enough. Actually am laughing at the thought of a mother telling an escort what a good job he is doing, doing her son. Anyway, was just relating my frustration with my career and asking if there was overlap with the escorts. But would love to hear some stories from escorts that had a family affair, twin brothers perhaps.

RE: Family member of a client?

In all my many years of escorting, (Yes, boys, you get experience wit this one!), I've only had a family member talk to me once, as I remember it, and that was a positive thing. And you'd think that even I would remember any negative responses. And that doesn't include the times when a couple, either homogenous or mixed sexually, has been satisfied.

We are always our own worst critics, eh? Good Paderewski story.

In theater, we have something we call, "Instant Self Forgiveness". Or is it "Immediate Self Forgiveness"? Anyway, it's what makes it possible for an actor to stay in character and continue the story after he/she has truely blown a line, some blocking, the moment, etc. Forgive yourself, forget about it, go on! Seems like a variant of it might apply in this sort of event.

RE: Family member AS Client!!!

Goodness.. dare I remember.. why yes of course... Anaheim... some big Italian convention Near Disney... late night client... deep sexy voice, well defined beard, 5"11"ish, black eyes, skin smelled like sandlewood and citrus. Arrive and kiss him, look into his very dark eyes... redish olive complexion. Hot sex and I make very sweet love to his tasty warm embracing ass... comforting afterglow semi slumber afterwords... we start to play again... he asks me about the unique spelling of my last name, Bhugghatti... extra "h's", is that really part of my name??? "northern Italian...why yes!", I reply, my fingers gliding up into his sweet ass, eyes meeting...

He brings up my ethnic background... I taste his ass and feed him his scent... I relinquish my MidWestern grass roots, eyes still afixed... moment of silence and blinking... flashbacks of holiday dinners in 75 & 76... "I know the color of your skin, the pigment in your eyes, strangely familiar accent, your scent"... GASP!!! Silence... I inquire... "I guess your Dad left Rockford? How's My Dad doing?" "Fine" "You still have my pajamas with teh fire engines all over them? The ones with the feet? "No" "fucker! I loved those! Your a very bad boi~"... Deep kisses... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm DEEP SEX!!!
