Hi,

I am quite new in the escorting business, so I have a question for other escorts.

When you travel to a client for the first time, do you pay for your air fare and wait for refund or do you travel only if the client arranges the ticket himself ?

Also, do you ask for a downpayment, if so how much ?

Thanks

Luke

Hi Luke:

Welcome to the board. I am not an escort, but much of the hiring I do involves flying an escort somewhere, so I can offer some input.

I think it is my job to buy the ticket. In this day of e-tickets and internet purchasing, it is quite simple actually. I think you should expect the client to purchase your ticket for you. It is important for you to politely express your travel preference in terms of time of day that you leave and return (if possible) so that when faced with choices, the client can make an intelligent decision. This has been discussed before... but on the one hand I don't think you should expect a first class ticket, but on the other hand neither should you expect a round about flying pattern and weird hours just for the cheapest fare. Consideration on both sides is the start of a good relationship.

As for a deposit... I do not send deposits, and most quality escorts I have dealt with don't expect it. The e-ticket purchase seems to satisfy the "I am serious" test. That being said, I must add that most of the escorts that I have travelled with are those who I have met before, and we both have some degree of trust with each other already. However, perhaps my best travel date of all time, with the escort whom I adore the most right now, was a first time meeting where I flew him to Montreal for 2 days. We ended up hitting it off so well that he extended for several more days without charge! Again, our email and phone correspondences prior to the date, and my purchase of the e-ticket were sufficient to put him at ease on the travel situation.

There are some escorts who have been burned or are afraid of being burned, and therefore do expect a deposit. If that is your comfort zone, then that is your comfort zone. But you must understand that you will lose some good clients who feel that this is unnecessary risk and bother for them, and will move on because of this fact alone (myself included). Only you can make that business decision.

Hope this has helped.

Hey Luke,

Welcome!

I prefer to have the client purchase the plane ticket in my name. Some escorts prefer to have the client send them the money in advance and purchase their own ticket, if they don't want the client to know their real name. Also, if it's the 1st time seeing a client, I usually request at least 1/2 my fee sent to me in advance. I had an escort/friend who had been flown in to see a client without any advance payment, spent the night at a hotel with the client and was taken to the airport the next day by the client when leaving. The client said he had to run to an ATM to get some more cash and disappeared without having paid him anything other than his airfare.

I have made some exceptions to the 1/2 in advance when it's been a client who had an established reputation reviewing escorts on this site.

Good Luck!

JEFF

Luke -

Fist off, best of luck with your new business. As to the your two questions, you'll most likely get a strong consensus on one but a split decision on the other. I agree with the others that airfare and hotel reservations is the responsibility of the client. As an escort, I never arrange the hotel or pay for airfare because no-show clients are part of the business (unfortunately). Of course, no-show escorts are way too common but for your own protection I recommend against paying upfront on the promise of a refund. My guess is that there will be agreement on that question but your deposit question is a bit more tricky. With deposits, some escorts require them but then they limit themselves because many clients will not put that much money at risk (travel fees plus the deposit). No matter what - one party will be at risk.

Again, best of luck

Hey Luke,

Welcome to the message board, I'm 100% behind what Marc told you. If the air fare is not good enough for the escort I guess I won't be seeing that escort. I will never send a deposit if I'm paying for the air fare, I got burned once and it only takes one time. Most well known escorts won't ask for a deposit. I won't pay for first class but will try and get him here the fastest way. At times Amtrack is better than flying.

I have had escorts come down from NYC or the Washington DC area and always use Amtrack for them. Yes I have to know the real names of the escort so I can get the ticket. I few of my escorts come from agencies so the agencies pick up the cost and pass it on to me.

When in doubt I whip it out:+

I am one of those escorts that require a deposit prior to booking an out of town date with me. Over the years, I have tried several different methods - and gotten burned one too many times - that I make it pretty simple for the client, and also insure that things will go thru. Last year I booked about 35 out of town trips.

I ask a deposit of half of my fee to be paid thru my Pay-pal account when the booking is made. If something comes up for my client, I gladly refund the deposit (less a small fee to cover expenses), up to 48 hours prior to my departure. After that, no refund. The balance is paid at the end of my session, and prior to my departure. I don't have much of a problem with this, as most people know me, and know that I am good to show up.

The client should always be the person to make the travel arrangements, and accomodations on his end. The ticket needs to be issued in the escort's REAL name. I am pretty flexible about my travel, but if it's going to be a hard trip (like my Hong Kong Trip), I would like to check the flight schedule before its booked. I do ask that the ticket be issued at least 14 days prior to my departure. Also - ALWAYS GET A ROUND TRIP TICKET!

Another thing to consider is this: If you are booking a client in Chicago and say you live in Oklahoma, I would recommend you ask for at least an overnight fee. If it's international, then a full day fee is not out of the question. Travel is hard work, and definitely be considered. It just doesn't make sense to book an hour appointment and have to travel 5 or 6 hours or more to get there, then 5 or 6 hours getting home. Remember, when you leave your house to go to the airport, you are working from that moment on. It's just not profitable or fair to yourself to ask for anything less.

But everyone has a different way of approaching their business. There are many ways to handle travel, and this is just one. The other suggestions offered seem reasonable to me also. Just find what works for you AND your client.

Welcome as well, Luke.

Since you live in England, travel depends on what is involved. Most of the answers you received were based on airfare travel and are the standard, and in my opinion, accurate way to deal with this (the client pays for the airfare).

One comment for you and other escorts: it is possible for you to make your own travel arrangements via a reservation and then give your record locator ID No. to your client to make the actual purchase. This tack can also be taken with a travel agent.

Secondly, while Marc and some of the other clients are correct, this is a decision you need to make, taking into account any number of factors: how comfortable you are with the situation, the cost of the ticket and how well you may or may not know the client, either by reputation or personal contact.

Good luck!

As a client, I would expect to pay a down payment as well as air fare. A fourth or a third, but no more. The escort should not risk finding himself in a strange city with a no show and having to pay his own hotel, meals etc to get back home. But if the down payment is too much, the escort loses the incentive to make the trip.
