But there’s the rub. Not all critics are created equal. You admire certain ones. Not every one, and certainly not because they’re film critics. Look – if someone wants to think they’re an expert in hiring guys, fine. A connoisseur. Whatever. I don’t rightly care about that. I care about the actual experience with said guy, and I don’t think you need to have hired a lot of times to know if you had a good time or not. And for that matter, I might actually be inclined to listen to the “newbie” more because it shows just how attentive the escort is to making for an overall relaxing situation, given “newbies” don’t know the ins and outs like experienced guys.

Now you're arguing something else and not what I suggested. You're sating you don't need to have hired a lot to know if you had a good time with one and I absolutely agree with that.

However what may have satisfied you may not appeal to me. I use reviews to see whether the experience described would appeal to me. That is why I read the commentary very carefully. Its easier here in Canada and other countries than it is in the US since the comments are censored on RM in the US.

Another point I would make is that while there are no stats to support it, I think the fee paying clients of Rentmen probably hire more providers on RM than non premium members. As such they are in a better position to make comparisons and offer better assessments in their reviews.

One thing I discount is reviews by clients who are inexperienced at hiring.

I’d reiterate that there are no stats to back up this assumption. Just an opinion. An opinion formed from assuming that because you don’t pay for a membership you’re inexperienced in hiring, it would seem to suggest as well, therefore not worth listening to. If you don’t pay RM, your opinion doesn’t matter effectively.

I have hired a few highly-reviewed people who have been a complete waste of time.  A couple of them have tried to solicit reviews, so I suspect that is how they drive the numbers up.  Bad reviews tend to disappear.  Even I will no longer leave bad reviews after receiving threats from 2 of the 4 people I gave a bad review.  The threats were stupid and irrelevant, but I don't see the point in stirring up trouble just to slap a bad provider with a bad review.  I doubt I'm alone in this.

Beyond reading the actual text descriptions, do you find any value in RM reviews at all?

Well… here in the states Rentmen reviews are pointless because all you can see is five stars one or all of which have been checked to give a basic reflection of an experience that you had with somebody. Outside of this country you can actually see the written parts of the reviews. I don’t know if it has changed over the last few years but, you also could see rates. All of that not being able to post rates and not being able to post reviews and being careful about what you say in your ad are really the and new human trafficking laws that were put in I don’t know if it has changed over the last few years but, you also could see rates. All of that not being able to post rates and not being able to post reviews and being careful about what you say in your ad are really the results of revised and new human trafficking laws that were put into affect.   XXXX

Even daddys reviews had to make adjustments over the course of these last 15 years… A lot of it really started around 2006 when the government imposed 2257 compliance on the adult industry and various escorting blogs and service sites were attack suck as back page, Craig’s list and Madison…

Tygerscent makes some germane points. As a Canadian I have a different experience from American clients so I won't belabour the arguments others are making here based on their American experiences. We live in 2 different worlds.

Rentmen reviews, for me at least, have been a useful tool in one regard. Say I come across Provider X, if I’m on a VPN, and can read the text of the reviews, I look for a reviewer with a filled in RM profile, and if said reviewer matches me in terms of likes, stats, etc., I often check who else they’ve reviewed. Then I come here, search the provider(s) to see what say you all, sometimes I may PM a poster for a bit more info, and then make my decision on engaging the provider.

It’s also useful when a reviewer leaves 5 star glowing reviews, then you come here, and read feedback from guys who have met the provider(s) in question, with experiences FAR from glowing. Helps determine legit reviews from fake one.

At the end of the day, it can be one of many tools one can use to determine whether or not to engage a provider.
