Hotel Price Surprise

I had booked a hotel along Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, CA, for when it is very hot here. It wasn't cheap. Then I started looking around, and found that my hotel was rated #21 of Santa Monica hotels. So I wondered what it would cost to stay in the hotel rated #1.

To my surprise, it was half-price!!! Yes. It was a special rate, and no, it didn't give you an ocean view room. But I would be across the street from the ocean and could see it anytime I wanted to.

So, I canceled hotel #21 and saved over $1000 over their price with hotel #1.

Surprising, huh? You wouldn't find the rate unless you actually went to their website. No other booking sites had it. It was so surprising that I called the hotel to verify it. They said yes, that's an available rate.
