I thought this might just be someone tooting his own horn, but even I hadn't heard of those spacers to put between the prostate and the rectum. The video didn't provide any references to actual data, but if what he says is true, that's exciting to hear. Professional guidelines still provide data which show a much larger percentage of radiation therapy patients getting devastating rectal damage than surgery patients (very rare with surgery patients). After looking at this video I saw that a recent study (2020) seems to confirm his statement:

I doubt that this means there's one procedure that's best for everyone, but the spacer does provide significant bladder protection according to that study.
