Came across this quirky British series and found I really liked it.  The main character Mae is a lesbian(?) Canadian emigrant trying to work the comedy clubs of Manchester.  At one of the clubs (the Gag Bin), she meets George, a not out Manchester resident.  George and Mae begin dating and after a short while George finds out (accidentally through Mae's mother -Lisa Kudrow) that Mae is a recovering addict.  George encourages Mae to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings where she meets an older, somewhat crazy, woman who she begs to become her sponsor because Mae does not want to attend meetings. Despite dealing with rather weighty topics the series is very funny.  The first season is only 6 episodes and despite the fact it was very popular it was announced that it is ending after Season Two (another 6 episodes).  This is too bad because there is little that is good out there.
