Well, putting aside that he is definitely someone I would love to have some cuddle time with, there is a documentary that is going to be shown on MSNBC that tells the story of the week in 1968 that Johnny Carson handed over the reins of the Tonight Show to Harry Belafonte. The guest list was transformative in its own way. It was the first time that Paul Newman was on a talk show. Petula Clark had been blacklisted. But it is just amazing seeing some of the others who appear to sit on the couch. These include Aretha Franklin, Diahann Carroll, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, Lena Horne, Sidney Poitier. The piece discusses various topics relevant to the era and probably to now. It premieres at 9 p.m. on September 12th on MSNBC or you can stream it on September 10th on NBC's new Peacock TV.
