Prior to his ad being deleted, I noticed that it became inactive more and more frequently. Then one day it was gone about a month or so ago. Within the last few months, several guys who were on my buddy list have deleted their ads.

Yeah, it's one thing for ads to expire, that happens all the time, but if you know the URL, you can still view the ad. But my understanding is the guy actually has to push a button for the ad to be hidden as you describe. Very few people seem to do that, so it's curious to hear of multiple people doing it in the same time frame.
