Agree with Ben, let's not get ugly. Let's just say that he has healthy self respect. What someone else was saying above -- some escorts who don't intend to do this regularly but still want the odd bonus earnings to supplement their day job, intentionally have high rates because they're not all that interested in dropping their pants for strangers, but for the "right" price, they'll go for it. They fully expect and accept that they won't be hired as often as the guys who keep their rates within the standard range.
