Covering Travel for a companion

I’ll be traveling to Europe this summer and have been exchanging emails with a companion. I am interested in meeting in the city I’ll be visiting but of course I would need to cover his flight.

 

Curious about ways to do so without buying the actual ticket. It looks like you can’t send gift cards outside the US due to changes in regulation. I guess I am just cautious that if I buy the ticket my personal info will be available.

 

I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

I typically pick providers with established reputations on here. Once we agree upon date and terms - i just send him money though his preferred app.

 

I have not been burned so far. I don't have time or temperament to make things confusing.

Thanks. If the provider is in Europe and one is in the US, is it possible to send the fare via an app?

I’ve never dealt with a provider overseas

 

Once we agree on the game plan - I use whatever platform they direct to send airfare

I usually just buy their ticket and email it to them. Never had a problem. If I were taking a companion overseas or even buying them a domestic ticket, you can be sure that I’d already met them and that we were both comfortable sharing real names.

Couldn't you just buy an airline specific gift card and mail that gift card to the escort you want to hire? As long as you have a US address to receive the initial gift card, you should be able to mail it to them internationally and they should be able to use it to book the trip.

 

I would check with the specific airline you are going to use to make sure their policies don't prohibit this.

Thank you all for the responses. @Pensant, you kind of hit the nail on the head. I am keen about meeting this gentleman but I have never met him previously; he does have good reviews though. So I am trying to figure out the best way to do so since I am not traveling to his city.

There are many ways of getting money/gift card to your chosen escort. Feel free to DM if you need suggestions. All of them, though, involve trusting that the escort will in fact buy the ticket.

Most gift cards purchased in the U.S. have no functionality abroad. If you read the fine print, they can only be used at U.S. retailers, etc.

 

Don’t make it too complicated nor stress. Clients purchase my flight often and I have no access to any of their personal information. Simply purchase the ticket and instead of sending him the airline confirmation email which can sometimes contain your name and last 4 of your credit card (dependent on airline) as it is receipt, simply send the accompanying PDF/E-ticket only which contains no details other than his name, flight time, seating info and the QRC code to board.
