Identifying Fake Guys

There seems to be a major infestation of fake profiles on "sugar daddy" sites and on just about any other daddy/younger dating site out there. Usually the profile pics that look too good to be true are the ones I am wary of. They claim to be a red blooded U.S. male and list a U.S. location, but the modus operandi is always the same - an immediate insistence on relationship, and a penchant for wanting to chat on Google Hangouts. I've found that the biggest red flags are lack of facility in colloquial American English, and using terms most American guys would not call another guy, such as "dear." I seem to have hit the jackpot in recent months, but there are really so MANY of them out there. When I call them out, they usually clam up and stop chatting, but some actually pretend to be offended. Another red flag is any guy claiming to be a soldier stationed in Afghanistan - an ex-military buddy of mine told me recently that NO U.S. soldier in Afghanistan is going to have easy access to the Internet, and certainly not for the purposes of idle chat on Google Hangouts. One I encountered recently seemed totally on the up and up, but then asked for an iTunes gift card, which seems to be another pattern among these guys.

 

Anyone else run up against this sort of thing on a regular basis?

Interesting. I am curious as to why they have a preference for itunes gift cards. You can only use them for apple related purchases, right? Are they easier to monitize somehow? Inquiring minds want to know...

I’m not sure what “sugar baby” sites you’re using...but no I don’t have that same conversation being played on me?

I think the majority of the ones I've seen were on sites like daddydater.com and silverdaddies.com (silverdaddies is RIDDLED with fakers), but they can also be found on sugar daddy sites like seekingarrangement.com and gayarrangement.com

I’m not sure what “sugar baby” sites you’re using...but no I don’t have that same conversation being played on me?

 

As I said in my other reply, they seem to be more prevalent on just regular daddy/younger dating sites, but they're on the sugar baby sites as well - I think you've either been exceptionally wise and insightful or exceptionally fortunate to not have been in an exchange with one of these guys. They don't just frequent gay dating sites, either - they're after women as well, often under the guise of being military. These fakers really do their homework with the types of photos they post, but their use of language in chatting usually gives them away.

And you never know how people will respond. There's a hateful escort in London who likes to keep several profiles of himself with different names and pix on the go, but with the same number, and when I gently queried what was going on, and if the same phone belonged to multiple people, his response was to block me from BOTH profiles. Hilarious. All the more reason to warn others away from him.

I’ve seen this but in the opposite direction. Lots of fake profiles of “daddies” that will ask to start giving me money right away even if they can’t meet up anytime soon and will want to know my PayPal log in information to do this...which makes zero sense and gives it away as a scam instantly. I hope nobody actually falls for that.
